ALABAMA BONSAI SOCIETY

GROWING TREES IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA SINCE 1974

The Alabama Bonsai Society was established in 1974 as an educational community dedicated to developing awareness of the art of Japanese Bonsai in central Alabama.

In monthly meetings in the Auditorium of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens members and guests make presentations ranging from basic horticulture practices to the finer points of training bonsai. These meetings are held the second Monday evening of each month at 7:00 PM and end by 8:00. Meetings are open to the public and reservations are not required.

Our monthly workshops give members and others the chance for some guided hands-on experience in doing the work of bonsai training. These workshops are held in the Naphcare Education Building at Aldridge Gardens on Lorna Road in Hoover. Members of both the Alabama Bonsai Society and the Bonsai Group of Aldridge Gardens bring their trees to work on in a community setting. Workshops begin at 8:00 and usually end by 11:30. Participants are able to come and go at any time during that three-hour period.

We hope you’ll attend one of our meetings or workshops. Please reach out to us. We’ll help you get started in growing your own bonsai!
